Psalm 3:3

The Lord Is a Shield Round About Me

A Day 10 devotional on the God who covers every side, lifts your head, and carries you through the storm.

Today's Reflection

But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the lifter of my head.

In a sermon I listened to, the preacher said something like this: storms have a way of bullying you, making you feel like they will never end.

And honestly, that is so real. Because when you are in it, it feels loud, like life itself is caving in on you.

But one thing I have come to learn in my little life is this: storms have an expiry date. They do not last forever. That does not make them any less real, though.

The noise is real. The pressure is real. But so is this truth: the Lord is a shield round about me.

That means I am covered on every side, even in places I cannot see. He is my glory. And when life tries to bow my head in shame, fear, or exhaustion, He is the lifter of my head.

So even in the middle of the storm, I am confident of this: I am surrounded. I am not alone.

God Himself is fighting for me like a mighty, terrible One. And if He is my shield, then the storm may rage, but it will not consume me.

Prayer

Father, thank You for being my shield round about me. Even when life feels overwhelming, remind me that I am covered and not alone. Lift my head when I feel weighed down, and strengthen my heart to trust You in every storm. In Jesus' name, amen.
