Isaiah 49:15

Seen, Held, Remembered

A Day 9 devotional on the God who does not overlook His children and never forgets His own.

Today's Reflection

Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.

I have heard stories of mothers who unintentionally forgot their children at school and had to be reminded by the teacher to pick them up. It seems almost impossible that a parent, especially a mother, could forget her own child. Yet as strange as it sounds, it can happen.

And sometimes life feels like that.

There are days when you do not even know how to explain what you are feeling. It is a quiet pain, like you have been overlooked, forgotten, or left to figure things out on your own.

In those moments, the enemy loves to whisper, "Maybe God has forgotten you too."

But God answers that lie with a question: Can a woman forget her nursing child?

Think about the tenderness in that picture. The instinct to nurture, protect, and respond. Even in human weakness, that kind of love is powerful.

And yet God says, even if that were to happen, "I will not forget you." Not in your waiting. Not in the silence. Not in the middle of prayers that feel unanswered.

You may feel hidden, but you are not forgotten. You may feel delayed, but you are not denied. You may feel alone, but you are deeply held.

The God who created you and formed your inward parts does not have a short memory. He remembers your prayers. He remembers your tears. He remembers every moment you chose to trust Him anyway.

So when your heart starts to question, answer it with truth: God has not forgotten me.

Prayer

Father, thank You that You never forget me. Even in moments when I feel unseen or unsure, remind my heart that I am held by You. Help me to trust in Your constant love and care, even when my feelings say otherwise. Anchor me in Your truth. In Jesus' name, amen.
