Psalm 103:1

Command Your Soul to Bless the Lord

A Day 8 devotional on choosing praise on purpose, even when life does not feel pleasant.

Today's Reflection

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Have you ever gone to church not in the mood, but then worship starts and your heart shifts anyway?

That is how it works sometimes. You do not always wait to feel it. Sometimes, you just start singing and praising, and your soul catches up.

It is a deliberate choice to bless God even when life does not feel pleasant. Not because everything is okay, but because God is still God.

And no, it is not spiritual bypassing. It is not pretending the problem does not exist. It is choosing to magnify the One who is bigger than the problem.

The One who rules in the affairs of man. The One who is able to do something about it.

In 1 Samuel 30:6, the Bible says that David encouraged himself in the Lord. There comes a time when you have to speak over yourself.

No external hype. Just you and your trust in God. The God who carries your burdens and already knows what you need.

So when your feelings are low, command your soul to bless the Lord anyway.

Prayer

Father, I choose to cast my cares on You. I choose to bless Your holy name regardless of how I feel. I choose to let my praise rise above my current circumstances. Help me, Lord, in Jesus' name. Amen.
