Week 01 · The Press

What Is God Doing in This Season?

An opening study for naming the season honestly and learning to look for God's purpose even when life feels heavy, hidden, or uncertain.

Main Scriptures

John 15:1-8 · Isaiah 43:18-19

Focus

Discernment, surrender, and learning to see the hand of God in the pressing.

Study Overview

Some seasons feel confusing because they do not look fruitful on the surface. Jesus reminds us in John 15 that pruning is not punishment; it is preparation for deeper fruit. Isaiah 43 adds another layer: God often does a new thing before we fully perceive it. This week invites you to stop asking only, "Why is this hard?" and begin asking, "What is God shaping in me here?"

Read and Reflect

"Every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."

  1. What in your life currently feels like pruning, loss, stretching, or interruption?
  2. How might God be using this season to deepen your dependence on Him?
  3. What "new thing" might be beginning, even if you cannot fully see it yet?

Prayer Prompt

Lord, help me not to misread this season. Give me eyes to see Your care in the pruning and faith to trust that fruit can come from what feels hidden. Teach me how to abide in You here.

Action Step

Write down three words that describe your current season. Then write one sentence under each word explaining what God may be teaching you through it.
