Psalm 103:19

God Is Still in Control

A Day 21 devotional on surrendering control and trusting God's sovereignty over every season.

Today's Reflection

“The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.”

As humans, we love to be in control. There is something deeply unsettling about not being in control.

When plans fall through, when people and seasons change, it sometimes feels like life is moving without your permission.

But sovereignty means this: God is not reacting to your life. He is ruling over it. Intentionally. Completely. Lovingly.

The same God who set the stars in place is not confused about your next step. The same God who holds time is not late in your story. He controls the entire script and knows the timelines.

Even when things feel random, nothing about your life is accidental.

Joseph was betrayed, sold, and forgotten, yet later he could say, “What you meant for evil, God meant for good.”

What looked like chaos was actually coordination.

That is the tension of trusting God's sovereignty: it will not always make sense, but it will always have purpose.

Sometimes His sovereignty looks like protection. Sometimes it looks like delay. Sometimes it even looks like disappointment. But all of it is under His authority and in His plan.

Prayer

Lord, I surrender my need to understand everything. Help me trust that You see what I cannot see. Remind me that You are not just present, You are in control. Even in uncertainty, anchor my heart in Your authority and Your goodness. Teach me to rest in Your sovereignty. Amen.
